So I know matte nails are so last year (or two), but I didn’t even find out about it until recently since I’m new to this nail polish “scene”. I decided I needed to try this matte nail top coat so after researching on the matte top coat options, I got myself a bottle of Essie Matte About You.
The day it came in the mail I applied a coat over my nails, and from then on, I was converted. It’s absolutely gorgeous and fast drying. The texture is just amazingly satin-smooth that I couldn’t stop touching my nails.
Here are some colors I’ve tried it on:
Over OPI’s Pamplona Purple. See the original color here. For comparison, I didn’t use the matte top coat on my middle finger. It does lighten up the original color a bit.
Over CG’s Grape Pop. See the original color here. SO PRETTY!
I do occasionally have problems with having these mysterious tiny white flecks on it when it dries though. I think it may be dust particles that were trapped underneath the coat, because I applied the top coat after a day or so of having the original color… so make sure your nails are clean before you put these on!
Also, I have to warn you against using it on a neutral color. I didn’t have a very good experience with that as you can see on my OPI Stranger Tides swatch.
